From the newspaper staff, Brigid Igoe, Emily Larsen, Kate Nixon, Rachel Post, Keely Quinn and Kelley Robinson received letters. On the yearbook staff, Kelsie Brumley, Megan Dawley, Rick Deming, Madison Fletcher, Mary Hayworth, Kara Johnson, Mackenzie Lanphear, Anya Lehrner, Joy McNeil, Hailey Moore and Kelsee Prado, and Beth McCarley, from the video staff, also received letters.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To receive the letter students were required to have spent 100 hours outside of classtime working on the publication, a contest entry, a product study, near perfect attendance, attend a workshop and recieve either an A or a B in the class both semesters.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Along with the letters, journalism students received Golden Quill awards that were voted on by other students. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Newspaper winners were: news writing, Kelley Robinson; personality feature; Kelley Robinson and Kelsey Schuler; personal columns, Rachel Post; critical review, Rachel Post; editorial, Brigid Igoe; alternative copy, Kate Nixon; facing-page layout, Kelley Robinson; single-page layout, Kate Nixon; and Photography, Emily Larsen. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yearbook winners were: student-life copy, Hailey Moore; sports copy, Lindsay Hess; alternative copy, Ashley Stoneking; DPS photography, Kara Johnson, Kelsie Brumley and Rebecca Schraeder; and photography, Kelsee Prado. The Golden Quill for top ad sales was awarded to Kelsee Prado and the Golden Quill for yearbook design went to Anya Lehrner. The Furry Scurry is a two mile walk and fun run that supports the Denver Dumb Friends League. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The run will be at Washington Park on Sat., May 5, and is sponsored by King Soopers and Hill’s Science Diet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fund will help over 25,000 homeless and abandoned animals, and the Furry Scurry will also include event festivities to help raise money. Tickets will be distributed Wed., May 9, during both lunches. Students will receive 10 tickets.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lost tickets cannot be replaced.  In order to graduate all fines must be paid by May 11 and all 188 credits completed. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Caps and gowns may be picked up in the auxiliary gym Thurs., May 17, from noon-1: 30 p.m. Graduation rehearsal is Wed., May 23, at 8:15 a.m., just prior to the graduation ceremony.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;In case of inclement weather the ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. in the AHS gym.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dress requirements for females are skirts or dresses, dress shoes, and the white collar must be worn. Student Council hopes to raise enough money to grant Caley, a 7-year-old girl with osteogenesis imperfecta, or brittle bone disease, her wish for a hot tub. "I think it's neat that AHS helps kids by doing Wish Week," junior Alex Hall said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On April 3, the CU Buffoons, an all male a cappella band, will perform in the auditorium at 7 p.m. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bobblehead Buddha, a band of Arapahoe students, will perform in the cafeteria at 7 p.m. on April 4.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On April 5, the seniors will take on the staff in a basketball game in the gym at 7 p.m.  The game is a classic event in which all students cheer on the seniors and watch their teachers try to succeed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tickets for all events are $3 for students and $5 for adults. A visit to the region capital, Pau, King Henri's caste, museums, chateaux, historic towns and historic villages are planned.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The group will travel on to the Southwest coast of France in the Basque country; known for its mixture of French, Basque and Spanish cultures. The group will learn about the Basque language and travel to Spain to visit the world famous Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cost is $3,280 and includes airfare, lodging, all meals, deluxe bus transportation, guides, entry to museums and special classes. Not included in the price is travel insurance and taxes. Deposit is $650. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The trip's limit is 18 students. The calendar chosen has 10 Wednesdays with two-hour delays to allow teachers conference time. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;During the PLC time, teachers will analyze test results and develop new ideas that will help them teach their students more effectively.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In order to have the same instruction time, seven minutes will be added to each school day and three non-student days will be eliminated. The exhibit, that opened Jan. 19, is called Tribal Paths and honors the Colorado American Indians.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The 4000 sq. ft. exhibit displays artifacts, diagrams, interactive pieces and photography. As you enter you trace the path of the Native Americans.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Arapahoe is displayed in a large glass case and in the center is a letter jacket and on the side an Arapahoe football helmet. A plaque on the side explains how we got into the relationship with the Arapaho people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also on display are schools that are not honoring the Native Americans like Arapahoe.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In an internet area, visitors can read the proclamation we have made with the tribe. Staff at Arapahoe is going to make a link from the museum to our school website and another link to show our relationship with the Arapaho people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The display will be open for about five years.
